Pretty Nice Weekend

Well biggest thing that happened was that Eva won a little prize at school for raising the most money for March of Dimes. She got a backpack with a T-Shirt, sunglasses, frisbee, and pen with bubble stuff in it. Her class raised the most money total so they had a pizza party on Friday. She was so thrilled about it.

My husband has been on vacation all week, so the girls have been going all kinds of fun places. Eva went to the waterpark twice last week and he took Lauren and Maria one of those times. They're all three going again today. He took Eva to the movies one day (Monster House in 3D), and Lauren and Maria got to go swimming at the health club 2 or 3 times too. He's in the running for Father of the Year I think. You want to know what makes me sick though? He's been taking off a day or two here and there all summer and now a week and a half, he still has 400 hours of vacation time.

Saturday he packed up all the girls and took them to his parents' house. So I cleaned, then my mom and I went shopping for awhile. Then I came back home and folded about a thousand loads of laundry while I watched a few more episodes of 24. I'm now starting Season 4! I also made good headway on Nicole's TWRR. I decided to do the border from Wedding Sampler.

Sunday, the girls and I hung out most of the day while DH took some time to himself. I worked some more on the TWRR. Then later that afternoon I decided to make Sundays Sweetheart Tree Sunday so I can get some work done on the upcoming Sweetheart Tree Round Robin. I decided to use the border of Sentimental Heart. I did the top and part of the sides last night. I initially thought that it might take forever, but the back stitching was going right along. I think the time consuming part will be that there's about a million rosette stitches.

Sunday night we went to a barbeque at my parents house because in the last 6 months or so a lot of new people have moved in the neighborhood. So we had a "get to know your neighbor" thing. The people that moved in directly next door to my parents have a 5 year old daughter that Eva had a lot of fun with. I'm glad she's going to have someone to play with finally. We finally met the people that moved in across the street from us. They're pretty nice. My dad is in love because the guy is a fisherman and he's got a fancy new boat. And it looks like the Saturday night LSU Football get togethers will continue. It seemed like there was a lot of interest. So that makes me happy.

We learned a lot of stuff about St. Bernard Parish aka "Da Parish". It was one that was very nearly wiped off the map from Katrina. The people who live across from my parents lost absolutely everything and they have their parents living with them and they also lost absolutely everything. And the people who live across from us, were from St. Bernard Parish. I didn't get the whole story of their situation though.

I'm happy to hear you had a good weekend. A friend of mine from work went to New Orleans as part of his vacation last week and was describing how there was still so much devestation in the area around New Orleans and the Mississippi coast. He said that while everyone he met seemed upbeat and cordial, there was an "aire" or depression over the area. I can't believe it will be a year soon.

Congratulations to Eva! What a great accomplishment. And I would say your DH is definitely up for Father of the Year. WOW!

Sounds like a great weekend. That is great that your DH took the week off to stay at home. We keep planning to do that at our house and then end up going to MA. Your DH must have really been able to relax on his vacation.
